Organizational Framework
The Office of Institutional Research is an independent unit directly subordinate to the President. The Office director shall be appointed by the President, must be the rank of full-time associate professor or higher, and must possess institutional operation experience. The Office consists of the following three work groups to devise and implement institutional research policies, develop comprehensive learning outcome evaluation mechanisms, and improve learning outcomes:
(1) Analysis research work group: Establish performance evaluation mechanisms for institutional administration, academic development, internationalization, and teaching and learning and plan and analyze institutional research agendas.
(2) Information management work group: Collect and verify the integrity of administrative information, integrate the storage and management of administrative information, regularly disseminate administrative information, and promote the use of administrative information in each department and institution agency.
(3) Project implementation work group: Devise preliminary strategies for institutional problems identified through analysis and assign institution agencies to implement the strategies after receiving approval from the President.
To assess the overall planning of the University and integrate resources to develop a Model University of Science and Technology, the Office has established collaboration mechanisms with first-level administrative units, including the Office of Academic Affairs, the Office of Research and Development, the Office of Student Affairs, the Office of General Affairs, the Computer Center, the Personnel Office, and academic units.
The Office of Institutional Research provides administrative information to internal units, conducts statistical analysis and data collection to assist in accreditation and accountability, and plans and applies for projects, thereby providing data as the basis for predictions and decision-making. The Office has also developed an institutional system database to provide software and hardware technical support, researches and develops performance evaluation mechanisms, and conducts questionnaire surveys. In terms of off-campus operations, the Office hosts intercollegiate and cross-industry collaboration and assists in developing a nationwide and uniform evaluation tool for learning outcomes. In this way, the Office improves the quality of public policies.
